How to Migrate from one cPanel Account to Another
Method 1: The "WHM Transfer Tool" (Automated & Recommended)
If you have WHM access on your destination server (which you do with your Reseller/Pro setup), this is the fastest way to move an entire account including emails, databases, and settings.
Log in to WHM on your new server.
Search for "Transfer Tool" in the left-hand sidebar.
Enter Remote Server Details:
Remote Server Address: The IP address of the old server.
SSH Port: Usually 22 (unless your old host changed it).
Authentication: Enter the Root password or the specific cPanel username and password for that single account.
Fetch Account List: Click "Scan Remote Server." WHM will log into the old server and show you a list of websites.
Select & Copy: Check the box next to the account you want to move and click Copy.
Note: vMix or other heavy apps on your PC won't affect this; the servers talk to each other directly.
Method 2: The "Full Backup" Method (Manual)
Use this if you don't have the "Transfer Tool" or if you are moving between two different hosting companies where you only have standard cPanel access.
Step 1: Create the Backup (Old Server)
Log into the old cPanel.
Go to Files > Backup Wizard.
Click Back Up > Full Backup.
Set the Destination to "Home Directory" and enter your email to get a notification when it's done.
Once finished, Download the .tar.gz file to your computer.
Step 2: Restore the Backup (New Server)
Log into your new WHM (as the admin of SoftSunrise).
Search for "Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File".
Select "Restore with File" and upload the .tar.gz file you just downloaded.
Click Restore. WHM will automatically recreate the website, databases, and email accounts exactly as they were.
Method 3: The "Live Transfer" (Zero Downtime)
If you are moving a live business site for a client, use the Live Transfer option inside the WHM Transfer Tool.
It places a "proxy" on the old server.
When a visitor goes to the old IP, the server invisible redirects them to the new server.
This gives you time for the DNS (Domain Name System) to update without the website ever going offline.
Important Checklist After Migration:
Update Nameservers: Go to the domain registrar (like Namecheap or GoDaddy) and point the domain to your SoftSunrise nameservers.
Check PHP Versions: Ensure the new cPanel account is using the same PHP version (e.g., 7.4 or 8.1) as the old one, or the site might show a "Critical Error."
SSL Certificate: Once the DNS points to your new server, go to cPanel > SSL/TLS Status and click Run AutoSSL to get that green padlock icon.
